Ronnie Close

The project uses the cultural myths surrounding the 1981 Irish Hunger Strikes to look at the relationship between narrative fiction and historical truth and our understanding of events. The photographic approach explores the deep psychological channels that motivate the martyr and the contemporary idea use of the body as a weapon.
